Visitation Teams
From its inception, the Christian Church has been concerned with caring for those within the fellowship who were ill, disabled, or had a particular need. In the 6th chapter of Acts, that concern brought about the election of seven lay members to become “mercy ministers”, ensuring that no one would be neglected or forgotten. Our lay visitation teams continue the tradition of caring for those who are physically separated from their faith community. Going out in pairs, our visitors embody the love and compassion of Jesus as they provide a ministry of presence to persons who are homebound, in nursing care, ill, or hospitalized. If you know of someone who would appreciate being visited, please call the church office at 945-9567. |
Eucharistic Ministry
Also since the earliest times, the Church has extended the Communion table to those who are unwillingly absent from congregational worship. Each Communion Sunday our Lay Eucharistic Ministers visit those wish to receive the consecrated Communion elements. This ministry is a powerful assurance that, even though they cannot be physically present in worship, those who are sick, hospitalized, or in institutional care are still a beloved part of the faith community. |
