We are holding in-person worship in our sanctuary on Sundays. Social distancing will be observed for now. Masks are optional and are recommended for unvaccinated people for their personal safety. You are also welcome to join us each Sunday online by logging into this website and clicking on the F underneath the What We Believe box.
Christmas Eve Service Friday, December 24 at 8:00 pm. This is a service of candles, carols and scripture.
Studies & Weekly Devotions
Pastor Steve Smith is leading fellowship and study time on THURSDAY evenings from 7-8 on Zoom. New Advent study: The Heart That Grew 3 Sizes: Finding Faith in the Story of the Grinch by Matt Rawle. If you would like to join the group please contact Pastor Steve at: email@example.com
The Bible study group meets on Tuesdays at 1 pm in the church family room. New study book: The Prodigal God, Recovering the Heart of the Christian Faith.
CHURCH SCHOOL (Christian Ed for Children & Youth)
BLAST, (Bible Learning Adventure Station Time) meets weekly on our church website www.fumcbangor.org Sunday school classes for ages 5-middle school meet weekly on Sunday mornings, excepting the first Sunday of the month when children remain with their families for communion.
Special Christmas Project: The Sunday school classes are collecting money each Sunday in their classes during Advent to donate to the Heifer Project for the purchase of a beehive in Mexico. The Mexican community will be given expert training on beekeeping by Heifer technicians. They are hoping to raise $30.00 to donate to this special project that can help a community grow and prosper..
The United Methodist Women
The United Methodist Women will meet via Zoom on Saturday, December 11 at 10 am. Bob Worcester and John Haskell, two of our fantastic church musicians, will provide seasonal music and the program will center around the excitement and joy of Christmas. If you would like to be included on the Zoom invitation list, please give the office a call at 945-9567.
Our Community meal is providing a free hot meal each Thursday from 4-6 pm. Drive up and have a delicious meal delivered to your car. The meal is also providing hot meals to the homeless in some of the tent cities here in Bangor as well as to the warming center at the Bangor Area Homeless Shelter each week.
Our next take out bean supper will be in March. We hope you will drive up again on Saturday, March 26, 2022!
For the Homeless
We are currently accepting gently used coats and boots for those in need. If you would like to donate either or both of these items (or hats, warm socks or gloves). Please drop them off in the containers in the narthex.
FOOD CUPBOARD NEEDS FOR THIS MONTH Any non-perishable food and toiletry donations are welcome!
Items for the Ecumenical Food Cupboard can be dropped off at the church on Thursdays between 10 and 1:00 and will be delivered to the Food Cupboard.
Our church office is open Monday from 7:30-10:30, Tuesday and Wednesday from 7:30-12 and Thursday 7:30-10:30. If you have a need when the office is not open, please leave a message on the church answering machine 945-9567, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org or in case of emergency contact Pastor Steve directly at 866-2144.
