Organic Garden Ministry

​Each growing season, First United Methodist Church volunteers till, plant, weed, and water our large organic vegetable garden. Bangor First partners with Northeast Occupational Exchange to provide clients with an opportunity to learn about organic gardening and to take home fresh vegetables. The Maine Center for Integrated Rehabilitation also maintains a smaller garden plot. Our gardens are responsibly managed, with attention to soil quality and without the use of synthetic pesticides or fertilizers. Vegetables from the garden are made available at no cost to guests at our weekly free Community Meal.
