Dr. Steven Smith
Steve was appointed to Bangor First in July of 2019. Previously, Steve served as pastor at Orono, Alton, and Milbridge-Wyman United Methodist Churches. Along with his pastoral duties at Bangor First UMC, Steve also leads Sunday evening services at the Milbridge-Wyman UMC each week.
Raised in Orono, Steve graduated from the University of Maine (Bachelor of University Studies with an emphasis in earth sciences.) Steve was a TV meteorologist at WLBZ/WCSH for 22 years, and during that time served as a part-time pastor before entering ministry full-time.
Steve completed his theological education at Bangor Theological Seminary, and earned a doctorate in church leadership with an emphasis in communications from Duke University.
Steve is married to Judy; they have two grown sons and seven grandchildren.
Steve and Judy love to take road trips, hike, explore the great state of Maine, and spend as much time with their grand kids as possible.

Rev. Jeffrey Fister, DMD
Jeff is an ordained Deacon whose primary appointment is to the practice of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is a graduate of Gettysburg College, the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, and Bangor Theological Seminary. As a Deacon, Jeff serves as a bridge between the church and the world. Through his secondary appointment to Bangor First, Jeff serves the congregation by teaching and assisting with worship.
Music Director & Organist
John Mallery Haskell
John is a musician (pianist/organist) who finds satisfaction in providing people with music to suit their needs. His responsibilities at Bangor First include directing the Fellowship Choir and adult bell choir, and providing service music for the Sunday morning worship service. John also organizes the music for Spirit Weekend, Christmas Eve worship, Holy Week services, and other musical needs that arise.
My Friend's Place Director
Dottie grew up in Orrington Maine, one of five children. She attended Orrington and Brewer schools and attended Eastern Maine Technical Institute with a degree in business management. She is married to Robert England and they have one son, Tyler. Dottie has worked in different roles for many years with our elderly population and has a deep passion for protecting their rights and dignity.

While a Kentuckian by birth, Mary has been living and working in Maine for the past 47 years. She is a retired educator, teacher, and school principal. Mary has two children and five grandsons. In addition to her secretarial and administrative responsibilities here at Bangor First, Mary also serves as pianist at the Alton United Methodist Church on Sunday mornings.

Media Ministry Coordinator
Wayne is a volunteer Certified Lay Minister whose primary responsibility is designing, organizing and maintaining the media ministry of Bangor First. Working in collaboration with the pastors and music director, Wayne provides worship media projection, enhancing the worship experience.

Sunday School Superintendent
Nancy plans and implements Bangor First's Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, as well as intergenerational activities such as game nights, Advent Workshop, and the family-oriented Christmas Eve worship. Nancy also recruits and trains teachers, and conducts Safe Sanctuary screening and training.
Lonna has been active in the United Methodist Church for many years, both in the local church and in connectional ministries. As church treasurer her duties include disbursing funds, reconciling accounts, and financial reporting.
