Sunday Morning Adult Study
Sunday at 9:15 AM we meet in the youth room in the educational wing for adult study. Pastor Arlene or Pastor Jeff generally lead these classes. Subject matter ranges from Bible study to contemporary topics to studies related to the seasons of Lent and Advent.
Beginning February 18:
Are We There Yet?
Sundays 9:15-10:00 AM
Using stories of pilgrimage and pilgrims, Are We There Yet? explores some of the most beloved pilgrimage sites in the Christian tradition and introduces the idea of an interior pilgrimage—a journey through the terrain of the soul. This book undergirds and strengthens established daily devotional practices, and also invites you to observe Lent in ways you may not have previously considered.
Books can be purchased at www.amazon.com or through www.forwardmovement.org. Also available for Kindle, Nook, and at the iTunes store. A limited number of copies are available in the church office.
Wednesday Coffee and Conversation
"The Anatomy of Peace"
Wednesdays at 2:00 at the Broadway Tim Horton’s
Begins April 11
What if conflicts at home, conflicts at work, and conflicts in the world stem from the same root cause?
What if we systematically misunderstand that cause?
And what if, as a result, we systematically perpetuate the very problems we think we are trying to solve?
The premise of this book is simple: people whose hearts are at peace do not wage war, whether they're heads of state or members of a family. In this semi-fictional narrative, the setting is a two-day parent workshop at an Arizona-based wilderness camp for out-of-control teenagers. But the storyline is merely the backdrop for an instruction manual on the principles of achieving peace.
Books can be purchased through Amazon and other book sellers, and are also available in Kindle and audiobook format. A limited number of print copies are available in the church office. Please read the first two chapters for the April 11 session.
The Anatomy of Peace is recommended by The Commission on the Way Forward and Bishop Devadhar.
